3D printing for modeling and miniatures
3D printers are finding numerous fields of use. Among these is the use of our 3D printers for the creation of modeling parts and miniatures.
3D printing finds a great application in modeling, where the designer can print both existing models of models and completely new models.
Many are figurine and miniature designers dedicated to the creation of extremely detailed models for the entertainment world, especially for creating characters, fantastic creatures, monsters, weapons, all kinds of vehicles, for video games, movies, cartoons, role play games.
The designer uses digital sculpture software such as Z-Brush, which allow the artist, exactly as in the actual sculpture, to start off from a full piece and digitally dig it, like if it was a piece of clay or plasticine but in a totally virtual environment.
Once the digital model has been created, 3D printing allows it to come to life through resin polymerization, which provide an high detail even on very small pieces, and thus it is possible to observe it in the real world.
It is possible to make silicone rubber molding of the printed model to make small productions of figurines. But most of the fun is in the next and last step: finishing and painting the models.
For those eager to start printing with resin their own miniatures, we recommend the Lumipocket LT Multifunction Printer: designed for beginners who want to approach the world of resin printing without making costly investments.
For professionals we recommend Lumipocket Pro or LumiForge and the professional 3D printers models that we will present shortly.
